We’re often asked “How many square metres of Louvre do I need for my building?”, and the answer is based on quite a complex formula. So, we usually ask a few questions:
- What’s your Pressure Drop? – the pressure differential from one side of a louvre to the opposite side, often expressed in Pascals (Pa).
- What Air Density are you working with? – Quite often we work with 1.225kg/m³ which is at sea level and at 15°C
- What’s your Volumetric Flow Rate? – the volume of fluid which passes per unit time; usually represented by the symbol Q
- What Discharge Loss Coefficient are you working with? – This figure is usually provided by a Louvre manufacturer once a model has been chosen, we show Discharge Loss Coefficient for our models in the brochure.
Plug all of this information into the below formula and you get the number you need.
To make your life easier, we’ve created the below tool, which takes the complexity out of it, just enter your information in the boxes.
