HOSPITAL HANDRAILS
Help your patients move around your hospital more easily.
In a hospital handrails are particularly important as a patients’ mobility may be impaired through injury or illness and they may rely on the handrail as a support for easy access and navigation of the building. It is an Approved Document M requirement to enable all people to travel around a building without discomfort or risk of personal injury.
But, hospital handrails have to be tough to withstand the rigorous cleaning regimes and inevitable impact from mobile trolleys and equipment. So depending on your requirements, and the area you are going to be installing your handrail, you may wish to consider either an Acrovyn® handrail or an Acrovyn® hand/crashrail.
Handrail vs Hand/Crashrail
Handrail
Handrails offer essential patient support as well as light duty impact protection.
Hand/Crashrail
Combined hand/crashrails provide impact protection in circulation routes, whilst also affording pedestrian support.

Use a handrail when:

- the area it will be installed is only subject to light impact damage
- wall protection is provided by another product (crashrail or similar)
Use a hand/crashrail when:
- compliance with DDA/Approved Document M is not important
- the area it will be installed is subject to significant impact damage
- wall protection isn’t provided by another product (crashrail or similar)
- easy removal for maintenance is important (CS Rapid Fix™)
